Kenneth Vickery

Kenneth Ivan Vickery of Newkirk passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, January 28, 2022.  He was 97. Born to Firman and Gertrude (MAY) VICKERY in Newkirk Oklahoma on September 1, 1924.  Kenneth was third of five children. He graduated from Newkirk High School in 1944. He was inducted into the Army in September of that same year.  He was a World War II Veteran seeing combat duty in Germany under General Patton. On February 5, 1945 he married Ida Mae MATNEY and had four children. He farmed in the local area for several years before working at the Maurer-Neuer meat packing plant in Arkansas City, Kansas for 30 years.  Ida Mae died of cancer in October of 1984.  On February 5, 1986 he married Dorothy SUMNER and they were married until her death on June 21, 2015.  After retirement, he returned to Newkirk.
Kenneth most enjoyed fishing and baseball.
Survivors include his brother Ralph VICKERY, sons Kenneth Dwayne (Claudia) VICKERY of Wichita, Kansas; Daryl (Carol) VICKERY of Newkirk; daughter Debbie (Bob) UNRUH of Orlando, Florida and step daughter/caretaker Catherine RIX of Newkirk. He also has 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Ida Mae and Dorothy, brother Marvin VICKERY, sisters Dorris ENGLEKING and Lyda SHERWOOD, and daughter Denise RICHARDSON.
A Memorial service will be held at Newkirk Cemetery in March. Online guest registry is available at www.millerstahl.com
