Katherine (Kathy) Fitch

February 12, 1943 — March 11, 2025

Katherine L. Boyer Fitch passed away March 11, 2025, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Katherine was born February 12, 1943, to Elijah and Ruth Billbe Boyer in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She grew up in a home north of Blackwell with her parents and 7 siblings. Katherine attended rural schools and went on to graduate from Blackwell High School in 1961. After her graduation she worked at Blackwell Nursing School serving as a secretary.

Katherine’s funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, at Peckham Christian Church in Peckham, Oklahoma; graveside will follow at Newkirk City Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 17th, 2025, from 2pm to 7pm at Miller-Stahl Funeral Home in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The family has asked memorial donations to be made to Peckham Christian Church or ACG Hospice.

Katherine married Kenneth Fitch on May 16, 1965, while her favorite lilacs were in bloom. Together they moved to Arkansas City, Kansas. While they lived in Kansas Kathy and Kenneth welcomed 4 children into their lives. One of the saddest moments Kathy experienced was the loss of her infant son Kreigh.

In 1974 the family moved all the way to Saudi Arabia for Kenneth’s work. They were in Saudi Arabia until 1978. When they returned to the states, they bought a home and moved to the Frank Fitch Farm southwest of Newkirk, Oklahoma where Kathy would live out her days as a farm wife and loving mother to her children and grandchildren. All her children and grandchildren were blessed to know her as Mom and Granny.

Kathy was a faithful servant to the lord. When the family settled in Newkirk they joined the Peckham Christian Church. Kathy would serve in many roles for the church, including the church treasurer and a Sunday school teacher.

Kathy was a skilled seamstress. She made clothes for their children when they were younger and sewed dresses and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She loved to make birthday cakes for her kids and grandkids every year, even going so far as to make a cake for a beloved stuffed animal for one of her granddaughters. Kathy was a member of the Fun and Fundamental Home Extension Group, winning many prizes and awards through the Blackwell County Fair for her sewing and baking skills.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Kenneth Fitch; her children Kirk and wife Mary Fitch of Centerton, Arkansas, Kendra (Fitch) and husband Brady Cooper, Kimberly (Fitch) and husband Steven Locke all of Newkirk, Oklahoma; eight grandkids and their spouses, Danielle and Matthew Bressette, Justin Davis, Dylan Fitch, Taylor Smith, Cody and Taylor Smith, LeeAnn Cooper and Zach Hill, Mallory Case, Owen Case and Chloe Summers, and Ryan Locke; and two great grandkids, Karli Davis and Levi Davis; and one great grandson on the way; her two brothers, Ron and Wife Nita Boyer and John Boyer; along with many nieces, nephews, and a whole host of friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her infant son, Kreigh; her parents, Elijah and Ruth Boyer; four brothers, Bob Boyer, Gary Boyer, Allen Boyer, and Kenny Boyer; one sister, Linda Trenary; and a son-in-law, Wesley Case.
