Ilah Beth Ingram, Newkirk resident, died on March 20, 2024, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was 94. Her Graveside memorial graveside service has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in the Newkirk City Cemetery with Rev. Jim White officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service.
Ilah Beth Ingram was born on July 23, 1929, in Copan, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Franklin and Elizabeth Ann Arnold Curtis. She grew up and received her education in Copan, graduating from high school with the class of 1946. Following graduation, she moved to Kansas City, MO. In 1953 she married the love of her life, Virgil Busby in Bartlesville, OK. They established their home in Wichita. Mr. Busby died in July 1956.
On January 23, 1957, she and Paul Wilbur Ingram were married in Wichita and made their home there until 1963 when they moved to Arkansas City. In 1965, she was employed at Hillcrest Bowling Lanes, working there for 12 years. She then worked as a cafeteria cook for USD 470 Middle School in Arkansas City. She retired at the end of the 1993 school year after 12 years with the school. The couple spent their retirement years traveling in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico where they enjoyed fishing, boating, and pontooning.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Kansas Capers. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and dancing.
She is survived by her son, Ron Ingram of Ark City, KS; two daughters, Paulette Luginsland and Pamela Pitts both of Newkirk; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Louise Merritt, her parents, two brother, Seth Curtis and Evert Curtis, five sisters, Lucille Sponsil, Virginia Shook, Juanita Mitts, Marie Nichols, and Gladys Curtis both husbands, Virgil and Paul; and her son-in-law, Dale Pitts.
