Honey Layton, 73, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, was called to her eternal resting place on July 15, 2021. She entered this world on June 28, 1948, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, born to Pete and Pat Anstine Masters.
Honey grew up in Newkirk and graduated in 1966. She continued to cheerlead for NHS through the years as her kids and grandkids participated in sports, band and other activities. Honey enjoyed spending as much time as possible with family and friends. She also worked for ADPC of Ponca City for 34 years. No matter how long she lived in Ponca, though, she always considered Newkirk home.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021, in the Newkirk First United Methodist Church with Pastor Hartlen Coats officiating. Cremation arrangements are in care of Miller Stahl Funeral Home of Newkirk, OK.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her two sons: Curtis Layton and wife Laura of Bixby, OK, and Scott Layton and wife Deborah of Newkirk, OK; one brother, Rick Masters and wife Judy of Bird Island, OK; and one sister, Debbie Masters of Stillwater, OK; and nine grandchildren: Emily Mayfield and husband Brandon, Joshua Layton, Geoff Elliott and wife Krystal, Zach Elliott and wife Sydney, Greg Elliott, Emily Elliott, Anisa Layton, April Johnsen and husband Ryan and Dylan Kohlman. Also surviving are six great grandchildren: Bain, Elizabeth, Halle, James, Rhett and Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honey was preceded in death by her parents as well as her daughter Candace Lynn Layton Kohlman in 2004.
