Donnye Colclasure, 71, of Newkirk, OK, passed away on November 8, 2021. She was born on November 20, 1949, in McAlester, OK to Andrew and Alice Chancellor. A graduate of Central High School in OKC, Donnye moved to Ark City in the early 70's with her sons, Jimmy, and Mikey Enriquez, and worked several jobs to make ends meet. After settling in, she met her husband of 46 years, Charles (Quid) Colclasure of Newkirk, OK, and both were in the aircraft industry of General Electric. After the couple married in 1981, they had two daughters, Cary McClure of Burbank, OK and Kinsey Colclasure of Derby, KS. Donnye worked as a mechanic for 25 years and retired from the field in 2009. After retirement, she was excited to never have to set an alarm clock again and focus more on the simple things in life-- board games, books, Sudoku's, grabbing a drink with her friends, being outside, and working on the next house project on the farm. She enjoyed getting to watch her grandchild, Peyton McClure, grow up and come visit. Donnye lived simplistically and the way she wanted with her husband and didn't ask much from people. She had a wonderful laugh and a strong work ethic that provided great memories for her friends and family. Her wit and kind heart will be missed by many.
The service will be held at Carol & Kay Sheild Community building in Newkirk Saturday, November 13th at 2 pm. Interment will follow the Washunga Cemetery in Newkirk, OK. A memorial can be found under St. Jude’s Hospital for any donations.
