Daniel Andrew Merz, 33, of Newkirk, OK left us to be with his Heavenly Father on August 4, 2022. He entered this world on June 19, 1989 in Ponca City, OK to Jennifer (Deibler) Wooters and Doug Merz.
Daniel always enjoyed the sport of baseball, playing from little league through high school. He graduated from Newkirk High in 2008. During this time he was active in ag plus he attended Pioneer Tech and completed the 2 year carpentry course. Daniel’s passion for hunting, fishing and noodling was inspired by his uncles. Daniel was with them every chance he got when it came to outdoor sports. After graduation he worked on the Merz Farm & Ranch with his grandpa. He also helped his dad with his businesses. Daniel had a knack for wood working and enjoyed carpentry. He was creative and detailed, always a perfectionist at his craft.
In 2013 Daniel became the proud father to his daughter Kashlynn. He loved watching Kashlynn’s sporting events and spending time with her. She inherited Daniel’s love of building legos and putting things together.
In 2022 he met the love of his life, Misty Horinek. They attended Cowboy Church in Krum, TX. Their favorite activity was going down to the creek, competing to see who could find the best rocks and shells.
Daniel is survived by his mother, Jennifer; father, Doug (Karin); daughter, Kashlynn; the love of his life Misty; grandparents, Bill & Susie Deibler and Don & Linda Merz; siblings Dane Merz, Kadi Merz, Kris (Brittany) Wooters & son Wesley, and Beth Wooters; uncles David (Dawn) Deibler, Brad (Buffie) Deibler, Brian (Stacy) Deibler and Dave (Lyndy) Merz; cousins Ethan, Boen and Brinley; beloved cousin Pam and his four legged buddy Pecos. He was preceded in death by great grandparents, great aunts and uncles and other loved ones.
Viewing will be Friday, August 12th at Miller-Stahl Funeral Home in Newkirk, OK from 5pm to 8pm with the family present from 5pm to 6pm. Memorial services will be Saturday, August 13th at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in Newkirk, OK. Daniel would want everyone to dress casual. His final resting place will be at the Newkirk Cemetery. Family and friends are invited back to the church following the burial for Daniel’s favorite BBQ dinner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kashlynn Merz’s college education fund at Equity Bank.
Pallbearers will be David Deibler, Brad Deibler, Brian Deibler, Ethan Deibler, Boen Deibler and Kayle Sheid. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Merz, Dave Merz, Gregg Wooters, Kris Wooters, Tyler Leaming, Dalton Summitt, Chris Aupperle, Jeremy Rowe, Austin Blenden and Daniel Pameticky.
